In this October market vlog, I carried you along to Rumokoro Market here in Port Harcourt (Rivers State) to show the real cost of living in Nigeria as at 2nd of October 2025—using my N150,000 market budget. This one wasn’t full “box shopping” because I still had plenty things at home (especially proteins like cowtail, cowhead, beef and goat meat), so I focused on refilling what was half or almost finished, and I showed you the hustling and bustling that goes on in a Nigerian market. I started from Aier Maria, that early-morning farmers’ section where you can get fresh produce straight from the farm. I also shared my market timing tip—if you want to share ice fish (hank fish), you have to go early like 7am because from 8am they’re basically done. And yes, we talked about negotiation too: once a seller gives you their last price and they’re unshakable, I just stop negotiating because the economy is not smiling and business is not easy. At the end, I did a full review of what I bought and the prices—plantain, yam, eggs, garri (the shocker!), grains for my baby’s homemade akamu/tom brown, palm oil, onions, dry fish and provisions for quick school-run breakfasts.
