Hey guys, it’s Bridget (BB’s Beasties), and for Vlogmas Day 22 I made the genius decision to do animal-shaped Christmas cookies… and then immediately proved I have zero business being trusted with icing. I used cookie cutters for a crocodile, sea turtle, frog, gecko, and snake, and I was honestly pretty proud of the idea and the shapes at first—until the decorating stage absolutely humbled me. The gecko cutter totally failed (the legs were way too tiny), so my sweet husband carved me a “special” gecko cookie shape… and it was, um, very very sad. I still used him though, obviously. I baked the cookies (almost burnt the first batch), mixed up some basic icing colors, and tried to outline and flood each one before adding details. The frog was my downfall—I wanted a red plaid Christmas sweater and somehow created one of the ugliest things I’ve ever seen in my life. The crocodile got Santa boots, the snake got silver ball sprinkles down the back, the sea turtle got a wreath situation that turned into sprinkles because my red icing went weird pinky-purple, and the gecko became a “ninja gecko” with Christmas lights. They’re a hot mess, but they were hilarious, they tasted great, and I had so much fun making them.
