About This Video

Hey everyone, it’s Bridget from BB’s Beasties, and in this update I’m walking you through all the changes I’ve made to my 20 gallon long divided aquarium after about 9 months. A lot has happened—most importantly, I lost my sweet betta Jenny, and it honestly hit me hard. She went from totally fine to lethargic so fast, and even though I jumped in with aquarium salt and Indian almond leaves, she was gone within 48 hours. I’ll be real: I let the tank go for a bit because it made me sad to even look at it, and my plants definitely suffered. Now the tank is back and *vastly different*. I redid the dividers so I have two 5-gallon sections (betta-ready) and one 10-gallon “play section” in the middle that I can switch up over time. I break down each section—what plants are where, what’s thriving, what’s being a total struggle bus—and I introduce the current residents: my new betta, Jane (a feisty rose-gold Dumbo plakat from my friend Its Anna Louise), plus my mystery snails, nerites, pink ramshorns, and all my shrimp. If you’re setting up a divided tank, this is basically a real-life look at what holds up, what needs tweaking, and how I’m planning ahead for future stocking.
