Hey guys, it’s Bridget (BB’s Beasties), and for Vlogmas Day 20 I sat down with a bunch of craft-store supplies and tried to make DIY reptile jewelry using my own shed skins. I’ve seen people on Instagram do this (and Snake Discovery has done something similar), so I wanted to try it for myself with skins that are really special to me—Bruce my first boa constrictor, Cornelius my first snake ever, and even a little bearded dragon shed from my girl Phoebe. I used a couple different pendant styles: a square glass pendant, another one I wanted to put Cornelius’s “perfect little face” into, and a globe pendant that magnifies the skin a bit. I’m not gonna lie… I absolutely did not think everything through before I started, and cutting the sheds made me weirdly emotional. I also learned quickly that tiny scissors would’ve helped a ton, and yes—I broke one of the pendants on the latch (oops). But overall, I think these turned out really, really cool, and I love the idea that it’s a different way of preserving your baby’s skin. I can’t wait to wear them and spark up conversations, because they’re just so neat.
