Vlogmas Day 19 was a cozy little livestream where I showed up (literally) covered in hot glue because I was building a bin cage lid—just normal Thursday stuff. We chatted Christmas stress, last-minute shopping, and how I’m basically ready for the holidays to be over even though I love them. I also went off on one of my forever pet peeves: when pet stores label stuff “fancy” like that tells you anything. Jokes on them—every pet I have is fancy. We also got into all my favorite topics: birds, expos, and the realities of ethical animal buying. I talked about wanting a Bourke’s parakeet someday (they really seem like a great fit for my lifestyle), and how I’d love an aviary vibe instead of just keeping birds in a room. Expos came up a lot too—AquaShella, Conroe, and Repticon—and I was honest about how disheartening it is to see lots of wild-caught animals being sold without people clearly explaining that to buyers (uromastyx always break my heart). And of course, we ended up talking feeding and husbandry—especially hognose snakes. I shared what’s been working for my hognoses (Grendel and Janice), how I handle picky eating, and why I recommend offering meals during the day for diurnal species instead of stressing them out at night.
