About This Video

Howdy everybody—Omar here, your Audio Amigo. In this episode of Amigo Reviews (Ep.90), I put the $550 Moondrop Meteor under the microscope: a tribrid IEM with a big 13mm dynamic driver for bass, two BAs, and four microplanars up top—plus that thin slice of meteorite in the shell. I walk through the unboxing, accessories, cable, build, specs, and the “Cool Wall,” and I also check in with the Council of Ladies for a sanity check on the looks. Spoiler: the design is polarizing, and fit can be a real issue if you’ve got smaller ears—my wife absolutely failed these on the tiny ear test. Sound-wise, the twist is that the Meteor’s bass is actually restrained and controlled: great texture and rumble, but not the bass-head cannon you might expect from a 13mm driver. The mids stay clean and balanced, with that classic Moondrop focus on forward female vocals, and the treble is smooth, detailed, and non-fatiguing—those microplanars do a nice job with washy harmonics without getting spicy. Technically, it lands in a strong spot (roughly between Blessing 3 and Canpur, and in the Dusk neighborhood), but the $550 competition is brutal. After comparisons to the Moondrop x Crinacle Dusk, Xenns Top Pro, HiSenior Mega5EST, and Tangzu Tian Peng, I rank the Meteor in my “Good” tier: not bad at all, just hard to recommend over more compelling alternatives for fit, accessories, and overall value.
