Hey y’all! In this video I’m in my dining room decorating not one, but TWO seven-foot pencil (skinny) Christmas trees. I’m doing a lot of red in my home this year, so I pulled from my ribbon stash and started with a gorgeous red-and-white striped ribbon (with a lime green edge), then coordinated it with accent ribbons so the trees would mimic each other but still be a little different. I show you exactly how I like to do ribbon—starting at the top, letting it drop to the floor, and using the actual branches to twist and secure it so it doesn’t pop out. And yes… decorating went wrong. I had high hopes for an elf theme on one tree and lived with it for three days, but I just didn’t like how it turned out. So I took it down (kept the ribbon and some wired-on red balls) and went back to the drawing board with a more minimal plan: a few cute picks, some simple character pieces (like snowmen/Santa), and new toppers. I finished both trees with gold bows and starburst toppers, and I’m sharing my biggest takeaway—step back, live with it, and if you don’t love it, it’s okay to redo it until it feels right in your home.
