I rarely use the word “game changer” because most gear is just convenient—it helps, but it doesn’t change the game. The SYNCO Xtalk Xpro5 intercom system is different. As a photographer/videographer doing client work with a field assistant, being able to communicate instantly and hands-free has completely changed how I run assignments. I’m often on one end of a room while my assistant is on the other side (or even in another room), and this lets us talk like we’re on the phone—no yelling, no running back and forth, and no clunky “over and out” walkie-talkie stuff. I also show the reality on latency—yes, there’s a slight delay, but it hasn’t been an issue in real jobs because my assistant usually isn’t standing right next to me. And one feature I love is the built-in 3.5mm port for monitoring audio during interviews, so I’m not choosing between comms and audio monitoring. I’m not a big spec guy—I care about field use—and this system makes my workflow faster, smoother, and more time-efficient (and time is money).
