About This Video

I get asked all the time what I’m using to film my YouTube videos, so in this one I break down my complete YouTube setup for 2025—camera, lens, settings, lighting, audio, and my editing workflow. And yes, I’m still filming 99% of my videos on a Canon 6D Mark II with an EF 85mm f/1.8. I like that tighter, more “condensed” field of view because I only want to show what matters—there’s nothing exciting in the rest of the room, so I’d rather keep it clean and focused. I shoot 1080p at 24fps, then upscale to 4K for YouTube because YouTube compresses 4K less than 1080. For lighting, I’m using a Weeylite Ninja 300 (150w bi-color) and I constantly change modifiers depending on the mood—right now it’s a Glow Easy Lock 36" beauty dish, often double-diffused and sometimes gridded. Audio is usually my TASCAM DR-10L lav (hidden under a hoodie to help with my echoey space), and I’ll occasionally use a cheap shotgun mic or a small BOYA-style clip mic. I also show how I monitor myself with the Shimble TP Mini wireless video transmitter—super simple, paired out of the box, and it’s been clutch for framing and lighting tweaks. And my biggest takeaway for new YouTubers: stop overthinking your space and stop comparing your setup. Find what works, keep it simple, and just make the content.
