In this live BTS, I’m on set in Las Vegas as Director of Photography for a pilot called “Between Love And Lust.” You’re basically watching my brain work in real time—figuring out blocking, camera placement, and how to make a scene feel natural instead of “we’re obviously filming.” I’m talking through little details like keeping people out of each other’s frames, getting establishing coverage, and making sure the action (like the jog-by and the mailbox beat) doesn’t look forced on camera. We also run into the real stuff that happens on set: limited daylight, not enough output from a light for what we’re trying to do, and deciding when it’s smarter to lean on grading instead of fighting physics. I’m testing a daylight source, trying a more focused/spot approach, and calling out the goal—selling “night by the restaurant” even though we’re losing light and working with what we have. On top of that, I’m directing talent through resets, telling them to embrace small mess-ups so we don’t lose the whole take, and keeping the vibe moving so we can actually wrap the scene.
