I Sold EVERYTHING for One Camera…Was It Worth It?

#photographyforbeginners #canonr7 #cameragear I sold five cameras and five lenses (and two battery grips) just to get my hands on one body: the Canon R7. In this video, I’m breaking down exactly why I made that decision, how much I got for this gear versus how much I paid for it (and how much it was worth at the time), and if I regret the entire thing. *Sponsored by NiceyRig* Huge thanks to NiceyRig for sponsoring today’s video. About This Video

I traded in a whole pile of old DSLR gear to buy one camera body: the Canon R7. In this video I walk you through the “why” behind the move (I needed a third camera that could shoot Canon Log for matching footage in a 3‑camera setup), the exact list of what I sold, and the numbers that made it hurt a little. I had nine cameras at one point, and I finally had to be real with myself: I either wasn’t using them, or I was forcing myself to use them just to justify keeping them. I break down what I originally paid for five cameras, five lenses, and two battery grips (over $8K), what depreciation said they were “worth,” and what I actually got back ($1,273 total). I also tell the full story of selling to Samy’s (they mostly only wanted the lenses) and then using KEH for the bodies—plus why I did the KEH Zoom evaluation to avoid the whole “they downgraded my gear” nightmare. In the end, the R7 was on sale and Samy’s had a no‑tax deal, so the math basically worked out to a wash. Was it worth it? For me, yeah—because I wasn’t using that old tech, and the R7 fits what I shoot now.
