AI isn’t the problem… it’s a symptom

Is AI ruining music or are we just forgetting what makes music human in the first place? In this video, I share a personal story from 2016, when I visited the Art Institute of Chicago and saw a Vincent van Gogh self-portrait up close. The raw, textured brushstrokes told me more about art and expression than any Textbook, plugin or tutorial ever could. It made me question how we approach music today, especially in an age of pitch correction, autotune, quantization, sample packs, and now AI-generated everything. It will be far easier to prompt a genre specific groove or backing track than it will be to create that music from scratch. But I'm starting to wonder if we will ever fully understand that convenience ultimately comes at the cost of the human signature. I’m not here to blame the tools. This is about how we use them, and what we might be sacrificing in the process. Rick Beato said recently that we have spent the last twenty years trying to get our music to sound more like computers, and now, we're all running scared that the computer learned how to make music on it's own.
