How to set-up your Andover One All-in-One Record Player and start spinning your favorite records!

About This Video

In this video I walk you through the complete setup of the award-winning Andover One All-in-One Record Player so you can start spinning records right away. Setup is simpler than a conventional hi-fi system, but there are a few important steps—especially around unpacking and protecting the unit for the long haul. I show exactly how to remove the dust cover and platter as a unit, pull the main chassis and accessory box, and why you should keep the carton and packing materials. If the unit ever needs service, correct repacking matters—shipping damage from improper packing isn’t covered under warranty. From there, I cover the critical mechanical steps: removing the transport screws, loosening the two motor screws (and the reminder to reinstall them if you ever ship the unit), and leaving the four motor suspension screws in place. The most important part is balancing the tonearm and setting tracking force and anti-skate. I demonstrate installing the counterweight, balancing the arm level, zeroing the scale, then dialing in 1.8–2.0 grams (18–20 on the scale), followed by attaching the anti-skating weight to the correct groove. Finally, I install the belt (the flat belt for 33/45; the round belt is for 78), fit the platter and felt mat, mount the dust cover, connect power, and optionally hook up a Songbird streamer or a subwoofer. Remove the remote’s battery tab, power on (it starts in phono at 33 RPM), drop a record on, and enjoy years of listening.
