Happy Thursday—this is one of those real-life, before-8am car yaps while I’m dropping Cruz off at preschool. My brain is already doing the most: we’ve got Pony Club tonight (plus Oakley has field hockey), and I’m trying to wrap my head around how Pony Club works because it’s not exactly like Girl Scouts. In my mom-brain explanation, it’s basically “Girl Scouts on horseback,” but instead of a million little patches, it’s more like a handful of certifications you work toward and they can carry you all the way up until college-age. I also talk about how Waverly might rank when she does her first assessment (November 2nd). I assumed she’d start at D1, but honestly she could surprise us—her lesson lady was big into Pony Club and has been drilling horse safety, parts of the horse, and tack/bridle stuff, so when I started quizzing her, she knew everything. And then… because the universe loves chaos, I witnessed someone blow straight through a four-way stop with zero brake tap, which sent me spiraling into how scary it is to witness accidents. I share a couple other times we’ve seen bad wrecks, and it’s just one of those reminders to stay alert—especially in the morning when everyone’s half-awake.
