HOW TO TEACH A 1-YEAR-OLD // Homeschool Routine for a 1 Year Old (12-15 Months) Looking for ideas for how to teach a 1-year-old? In this video, I'm sharing my "homeschool" routine for my 1-year-old Noah (more specifically, toddlers 12-15 months). This is a VERY basic and relaxed, child-led, play-based homeschool "curriculum," which focuses on 5 major areas of development (fine motor skills, gross motor skills, language development, cognitive development and social-emotional development). *Disclaimer* Always closely supervise your child during all of these activities as they may contain choking hazards. About This Video

In this video I’m walking you through what “homeschooling” looks like for my 1-year-old Noah (12–15 months), and I’m keeping it VERY basic, relaxed, and child-led. Before we jump into learning time, I feed him a good breakfast (yes, it gets messy—eggs in the hair and all), and I try to set myself up by cleaning the night before… but you know, things happen. For the week, I pick three focus subjects—this week it’s alphabet, numbers, and body parts—and then I rotate in colors (I only do two colors a week because too many is overwhelming at this age). I show you how I use simple routines like pointing and identifying numbers (no pressure to “know” them), singing the ABCs, working on body parts, and doing animal puzzles for memory and problem-solving. I also talk to Noah the way I’d talk to an adult because I’ve seen how much that helps language development—being descriptive, emphasizing what he’s trying to do (“up, up, up”), and giving choices during reading time. We finish with play-based learning like blocks, bubbles (cause and effect), practicing stairs with close supervision, and a walk that honestly helps me reset and get time with God after a long morning.
