Late May, I just turned 24 and realized I’ve officially stepped into my mid-20s. Looking back, the last year felt a bit… stagnant compared to when I was 22 and everything in my life was changing fast. So for my birthday, I wanted to do something that actually scared me a little—get out of London, chase that “unknown” feeling again, and put myself in a situation where I had to rely on myself. In this video I do my first solo wild camp in the Brecon Beacons. I hike up Pen y Fan (the highest peak at about 866m), with roughly 400–500m of elevation gain, and I’m filming, eating, and trying not to lose my drone in the wind the whole time. Then I head down to a familiar campsite by a lake near the base—somewhere I’d camped with friends back at uni—because going solo is already enough of a challenge. I pitch my tent before dark, test a self-heating hot pot for dinner (honestly kind of insane how fast it heats), and ride out a night of heavy rain and strong winds. The takeaway: solo camping isn’t “hard,” but it forces you to face uncertainty—and I’d 100% do it again.
