About This Video

In this episode, I’m showing you what it’s actually like building a tech startup day-to-day while I’m building Zelos (my calisthenics app) in public. The vlog starts past midnight because I’m finalizing a release—making builds, testing on iOS and Android, and shipping a pretty important update: Apple and Google sign-in. I submit iOS first because App Store review usually takes longer, then fix a small Android-only UI bug in the morning and push the Google Play release right after. After the release is live, my focus shifts from “build new features” to “watch everything like a hawk.” I talk about how I handle feedback (I get DMs every day), the pressure of building for a worldwide community, and the constant tradeoffs in onboarding. I went from email/password (spam accounts) to SMS verification (friction + delivery issues), and now to Apple/Google sign-in to make signup easier while still trying to keep one real identity per user. I also share the money side: I got accepted into a Google startup program and received $2,000 in credits, which helps a lot because my main cost is GCP for videos, servers, and functions (around £5–£10/day). On growth, I’m seeing 50–100 new users/day, but retention drops after a few days—so I’m thinking about streaks as a re-hook. And yeah, the founder life is still founder life: calisthenics training, cheap protein meals, editing as I go, and fixing bugs when someone DMs me that prod is broken.
