About This Video

Hi friends — in this video I’m showing you exactly how I made my son’s “Mickey” (you know the one) number 3 cupcakes for his class party. I take you through the whole process, from designing the little number three toppers on my computer, uploading into Cricut, and cutting them from plain black cardstock, right through to hot gluing the white “buttons” on. It’s honestly a super simple DIY, and I love that it looks so cute in photos even though he’s only three and would’ve been happy with box cake and sprinkles. I also share how I iced them with a simple dairy-free vanilla buttercream and the piping technique I used to get that tall, tidy swirl without loading the cupcakes with an excessive amount of icing (because… three-year-olds). The biggest little tip is piping a point in the middle first so the swirl has something to stand on as you build it up. I also show where I placed the topper and what I’d do differently next time — learn from my mistakes and just place it directly at the back. This is such an easy one to customise for different numbers, colours, and party themes.
