In this episode of my Pregnancy Series, I’m sharing my full story of how I got pregnant naturally after 4 years TTC—because I know how heavy and emotional that season can feel. I’m currently in my second trimester with my first pregnancy, and I wanted to walk you through the “missing links” that didn’t show up on standard fertility testing. On paper, my husband and I looked super healthy (AMH, ultrasound, sperm analysis—everything came back great), yet we kept getting labeled as “unexplained infertility,” and that was honestly so frustrating. What finally helped me was getting really obsessive (in the best way) about my own data: routine bloodwork, ferritin/iron trends, and digging into why my digestion kept getting flagged as “stressed” by multiple practitioners. I realized my ferritin was sitting in an anemic range for years, and nothing improved it until I went fully gluten-free—then my iron started jumping up fast. I also did a food sensitivity test and discovered I was eating several highly reactive foods daily (including gluten), which I truly believe was driving inflammation, gut stress, and even my acne. I also focused hard on egg quality: Brazil nuts daily (selenium), a high-quality omega-3, folate (not folic acid), a whole-foods diet with enough healthy carbs, and digestive enzymes with my biggest meal. My biggest takeaway: be your own advocate, track your labs, and explore the natural root-cause side before jumping straight to meds or procedures—especially if you’re in that “unexplained” category.
