This is a call especially to my own field, animal care professionals, to confront our silence on Palestine. We’ve spoken out for compassion in other causes, but our ethics mean nothing if they disappear when the victims aren’t Western. Gaza’s people, animals, and ecosystems are being destroyed with our governments’ support, and our silence makes us complicit. Enough is enough. Share this post and speak up today. Reach out to someone in animal care that should see this ✊ for example, @avmavets 👀 we can’t hear you… Footage via instagram: @m7md_vo @sulalaanimalrescue @animalprofessionalsforgaza @te_otane @democracynow If my words make you uncomfortable, that’s a sign that you should be paying attention to. Discomfort is a crack in the logic you may have been taught to accept without question - try facing your discomfort instead of running from it. Ask questions about why you feel that way, and see where it leads you. On October 7, colonized people exercised their internationally recognized right to rebel against the Israeli occupation that has been unimaginably oppressing and abusing them for decades. I do not condemn that. I support Indigenous self-determination and the right to resist foreign domination and apartheid. I stand with the Palestinian people in their struggle for freedom. About This Video

In this video, I’m speaking directly to animal care professionals—but really, this applies to anyone who claims compassion as part of their ethics. I’m calling out the silence I’ve seen while a genocide continues to unfold in Palestine, as well as in Sudan and Congo. I talk about the scale of civilian death, and I name what’s happening on the ground in Gaza as an environmental, human, and animal welfare catastrophe: veterinary clinics, animal shelters, and farms bombed; water systems contaminated; livestock starving. I also connect this to “One Health”—the framework we all love to cite about the interconnection between human, animal, and environmental wellbeing—and I’m blunt about how meaningless it sounds when institutions that teach it stay quiet while the principle is being obliterated. I explain why silence doesn’t read as neutrality; it reads as endorsement of the status quo, especially when Western governments are supplying weapons. My goal here isn’t to “call you out,” it’s to call you in: ethics aren’t proven when it’s easy—they’re proven when it’s uncomfortable. If you’re unsure or scared, I invite you to learn, ask questions, and reach out—I’ll help you navigate misinformation and craft something that aligns with your values.
