#unrealengine5 #ue5 #tutorial #beginnertutorials #unrealengine In this tutorial I explain my process for creating mountain landscapes in epic games' unreal engine 5. We start by sculpting our terrain with the free tools built into unreal engine, then we create our landscape material in the material editor, and finally we use the landscape brushes to paint in our textures. About This Video

In this video I walk through my full process for making mountains (and basically any landscape) in Unreal Engine 5. The first thing I do—every single time—is jump into PureRef and build a reference board using Pinterest/Google, because I want images that actually get me inspired and keep me on track. Then I spin up a blank project, do quick housekeeping (Levels/Materials folders), set up basic lighting in the Environment Mixer, disable auto exposure, and enable the plugins I use on pretty much every project (Render Movie Queue, Water/Water Extras, and Landmass) so I only have to restart once. From there we go into Landscape Mode and sculpt. My brush settings don’t change much: I usually keep falloff at 1.0 and strength around 0.3, then I block out the main mass with Sculpt, level it out with Flatten, and do most of the “real” shaping with the Erosion brush (that’s where the realism comes from for me). I’ll add Noise at the end to break up flat areas. After sculpting, I build a simple but powerful landscape material using Landscape Layer Blend nodes with three layers (Rock, Lava Rock, Ground Rock), pulling textures from Quixel Bridge, wiring up base color/normal/AO/roughness, and adding Texture Coordinate nodes so I can quickly adjust tiling. Finally, I paint and blend the layers—plus I show the UE5 “materials don’t show until reload” bug and the quick save/reload fix.
