About This Video

In this video I walk you through how I made my easy archviz kitchen interior scene in Unreal Engine 5 using basically nothing but Starter Content and the free Twinmotion Content Library (the only exception in my build was the window). Before I even touch UE5, I recommend compiling reference images—Pinterest is perfect—and building a mood board. I use PureRef so I can keep the whole vibe on my desktop while I’m blocking out the scene and making decisions. Once the project is created, I start by making sure my settings are right for the look: Lumen for Dynamic Global Illumination and Reflections, plus Virtual Shadow Maps (beta). From there I create an Empty Level, block out the floor and walls with Starter Content, drop in a quick light so I can see, and use a simple cube to map where my big assets will go. After that I add basic materials—drywall from Quixel and a simple floor material—then place a Cine Camera Actor to lock in the framing. Finally, I switch over to a clean lighting setup: Directional Light, SkyLight, and Sky Atmosphere, and I remove the temporary point light. To fix the ugly black outside the window, I add Exponential Height Fog and dial it down (around 0.004 worked for me) so it clears the exterior without fogging the interior too much. This is a quick, high-level rundown that leaves you creative control, but it should be enough to replicate the workflow and build your own scene.
