I wanted to send out another exercise, this one for the upper back, that I hope you find helpful. I am a great believer that if we can unlock some of the tension in the upper back (thoracic spine) that this has a knock-on benefit for the neck (cervical spine) and lower back (lumbar spine). Why I love this exercise: ⭐ You stand up feeling better! - Freer and 'broader' through the chest and upper back area. ⭐ It is easy to do. ⭐ Pretty much anyone can give it a go* The 'Chalk Circles' exercise can benefit the following issues: ✔️ Stiffness and discomfort through the upper back region. ✔️ Tight chest muscles. ✔️ Those of you who are desk-bound, work on laptops or use your tablets and phones a lot (Yes, all of us right now!). ✔️ Round shoulders. ✔️ Lower back and neck pain. ✔️ Low-grade shoulder discomfort. If you can get safely on and off of the floor you can do this however if preferred you could give this a try on your bed. You will just need to be lying and have the space to circle your top arm up and over your head without hitting the wall or the headboard! You will also need to be extra vigilant that you are stabilising your pelvis and not rolling backwards from the waist. Please enjoy the 'Chalk Circles' - it is a feel-good exercise 🙂 Once again if you have any questions following doing this exercise, requests for other exercises or problems for me to help with (even remotely) please email me. If you know someone that may benefit from this exercise please feel free to forward this to them, if they email me and I'll happily add them to the recipient list.
