Why Your NotebookLM Slide Decks Disappeared

Have you recently opened your NotebookLM studio and noticed that the option to create Slide Decks is gone? Apparently, it has happened to many of you, and I had to do some digging to find out why. The problem lies within your Google Account. The Age-Gate Fix Blueprint: - Check the Studio: Confirm that Slide Decks (and potentially other artifacts) are missing from the right-hand panel. - Verify Your Google Status: Check if your account has a pending age verification request. Google has started gatekeeping certain generative features behind these checks. - Choose Your Verification Method: Google currently allows only two paths → a valid government ID or a credit card. - Refresh and Reboot: Once verified, users are reporting that the Slide Deck artifact reappears within a few minutes to a few days. A few thoughts I'll share: - I don't know what's suddenly new with NotebookLM and slide decks, but Google’s documentation is clear: if they think you might be under the age requirement for your country, they will disable features or even your entire account. - Different countries have different rules. - If you aren't willing to hand over an ID or credit card to Google, there currently isn't a third option.
