Searching for your project files and manually checking everyone's calendar just to see who can actually work on a task is now a thing of the past. Google Drive's new Projects feature (Beta) finally lets Gemini act as your high-level project coordinator. Instead of just analyzing one document at a time, you can now create dedicated containers for your projects. This allows Gemini to scan your project plans, Gantt charts, and resource lists alongside your Gmail and Calendar to give you real answers, not just summaries. The Project Coordination Blueprint - Create Your Project: Access the "Projects" tab in the left-hand menu of Google Drive to start a new workspace. - Add Sources: Use the "Add" button to pull in specific folders or files from your My Drive or Shared Drives. - Enable Cross-App Search: Use the source toggle to let Gemini search through Drive, Gmail, Chat, and Calendar for that specific project. Add Web search if you want it to go outside of your internal sources. - Connect Your Gems: Use the "More Options" menu to link specialized Gemini Gems for custom reasoning or specific industry expertise. A few thoughts I'll share: - This is an AB test. If you don't see "Projects" in your sidebar, there isn't a magic link to force it to appear. Google is rolling this out slowly. - If you have hundreds of files, the context window can still be a bottleneck.
