NotebookLM Revise Slides: What It Changes (and What It Doesn’t)

Is your NotebookLM slide deck currently a locked image that you’re fighting to change? Google finally added a Revise button to NotebookLM, but it doesn't work as well as what I think people are hoping for. Instead of clicking and typing, you have to prompt your way through every slide design tweak. I'll test the new feature to see if it’s actually a time-saver or just more babysitting for your AI. The NotebookLM Revision Blueprint: - Access the Revise Mode: Open NotebookLM, open your notebook, select your slide deck, and find the "Revise" pencil icon. - Batch Your Changes: You don't have to generate after every slide. Go slide-by-slide and add your requests to the "Pending Changes" list. - Verify the List. Check your pending changes before you hit generate. It’s easier to delete a bad prompt now than to wait another 3 minutes for a re-render. Things To Be Aware Of: - Expect the Generative Drift: Because these are static images, changing a background color can randomly shift your images or slide layout. - The Static Image Trap: As I point out, these aren't native text boxes. You still can't just highlight a word and fix a typo. - The 2.5-Minute Tax: Even for a simple 2-slide background color change, the generation took about two and a half minutes. Scale that to a 20-slide deck, and you’re looking at a coffee break. - Visual Hallucinations.
