The Custom Aspect Ratio Blueprint: - The UI Reality: The standard chat interface locks you into basic presets like Square (1:1), Portrait (3:4), Story (9:16), Landscape (4:3), and Widescreen (16:9). - The Auto Default: If you leave the dropdown on Auto, the model tends to default to a 1:1 square. It does this because a square requires the least amount of processing power and is the fastest to generate. - The API Bypass: To generate custom sizes, you must step outside the ChatGPT app and use an API call. - The Developer Math: Your custom size must meet strict rules. Both edges must be multiples of 16 pixels. The maximum edge length is 3840 pixels. The long-edge to short-edge ratio cannot exceed 3 to 1. The total pixel count must fall between 655,360 and 8,294,400.
