Most people are just using the generic Gemini side panel, but you can actually bring your specialized, custom-built AI experts directly into your docs, spreadsheets and slides. I found these are hidden away pretty nicely, so if you’ve been looking for your hidden Gems and haven't seen them, you aren't alone. I break down the exact clicks needed to find them and the one annoying restart trick you need to know to make them show up. How to get Gems into Workspace: - Step 1: Build your Gem at gemini.google.com (e.g., a "CEO Stakeholder" or "Writing Editor"). - Step 2: Open a Google Doc, Sheet, or Slide and click the Ask Gemini icon (top right). - Step 3: Click the hamburger menu (three lines) inside the Gemini panel. - Step 4: Select Gems to toggle between your custom experts and Google’s pre-made ones. Pro Tip: If you just made a Gem and it’s missing, close the document tab and reopen it.
