Gemini Chats Disable NotebookLM Sharing

You sync your NotebookLM notebook with the Gemini app to run some advanced prompts on your sources....great! You head back to your notebook to send it to a colleague, and the share button is completely grayed out....hmmmm?? This turns out to be a friction point caused by Google’s latest ecosystem integration. When you run a chat inside gemini.google.com using your synced notebook sources, NotebookLM revokes your sharing privileges entirely. The NotebookLM Share Restoration Blueprint: - Identify the Lock: Note the grayed-out button and the warning message stating that notebooks with chats from other apps cannot be shared yet. - Return to the Source: Open the left sidebar in your Gemini app and navigate to your synced notebook workspace. - Locate the Active Chat: Find the prompt stream where you queried your data. - Delete the Chat History: Click the three dots next to the active chat stream and select delete. - Verify the Reset: Return to notebooklm.google.com. The chat history will clear out, and the share window will instantly function normally again.
