In today’s video, I’m harvesting all of our sweet potatoes and finally testing what really works better: rooted slips or planting the whole sweet potato. After an unexpected freeze right after my surgery, it was time to pull everything up and see which method produced more for Thanksgiving. Both beds had the same soil, same watering schedule, and the same conditions in our self-watering totes—so this experiment was as fair as it gets. I’ll walk you through the harvest, compare yields, and share the surprising results of this six-month test. If you’ve ever wondered whether sprouting slips is worth the extra effort or if the “lazy whole potato method” really works, this video has your answer. Let me know if you’ve tried this experiment too, and be sure to subscribe for more gardening and homesteading tips!
