Today we are planting our very first fruit tree orchard here on the Laid Back Homestead in Zone 9A, and it feels like the start of a whole new chapter in how we grow food. In this video we are sharing exactly how we planned our orchard layout, proper fruit tree spacing for airflow and sunlight, mixed-variety planting to reduce pest and disease issues, and the full planting process using an auger, topsoil, berms for water retention, and mulch.
