I’m Expanding the Garden… But Doing It Differently This Time

After a rough start to the 2026 spring season with poor germination and pest issues, I decided to pivot and expand the garden with a brand new raised bed—but I’m doing things a little differently this time. In today’s video, I’m building and setting up a galvanized raised garden bed from start to finish, sharing my honest thoughts on the process, and filling it using a mix of hügelkultur and lasagna gardening methods to create a low-cost, nutrient-rich foundation. We’ll get everything planted out with a mix of tomatoes, peppers, and more for what I’m calling my “emergency backup garden,” plus I’ll show how I’m keeping everything watered using an olla system while we wait on a well.
