This video is a proper behind-the-scenes tour of my hidden home lab — basically the “brain” that runs my network, Wi‑Fi, CCTV, smart home, and local storage, plus the other half of the room that handles audio/visual distribution around the house. When we moved in, I had no clue what to do with the space (it’s above the cellar), so I built a false wall to hide it off from the cinema room, swapped the head-banging dome light for flush LED strips, and ran them on an ESP32 with WLED so I can do addressable effects when I feel like it. Then we get into the racks: two 16U Mojo racks (I painted the network one to match the Ubiquiti vibe) and a full UniFi stack — Pro Max 24 PoE switch, UDM Pro Max, UNAS Pro over 10G, plus the AI Key and an RPS for redundancy. On the AV side, I kept it simple: a bunch of sources (consoles, Apple TV, and a sleeper mini PC) into an old-school Denon receiver and HDMI splitting so I can put any source on any TV in the house. I also show how I’m using a UGREEN dock and a low-power USB‑C display to keep CCTV visible 24/7, and I talk power too — including the solar battery setup that helps offset what this room pulls.
