For the longest time I’ve been bulking up old hard drives for backups, constantly annoyed at the 1TB in my Mac, and honestly just getting tired of paying for cloud storage. In this video I put the UGREEN DXP4800 Plus through a proper “real office” test, because on paper it’s doing more than most consumer NAS boxes: HDMI on the back, a built-in app store, and (the wild part) two hidden NVMe slots underneath for fast project storage or cache. I set it up with four 4TB IronWolf HDDs, then flipped it over to show how you can add NVMe and even upgrade the RAM. I ran speed tests both locally and over the network. Pushing files via USB-C straight to NVMe hit 582MB/s, and even the HDD pool surprised me at 382MB/s. On the network, the 10GbE ports are perfect for my setup, but I also show why even a 2.5GbE adapter makes a huge difference—22GB dropped from 3:23 on 1GbE to 1:25 on 2.5GbE, maxing the adapter both times. Add in SD/USB mounting over the network, Plex/Docker potential with the 12th-gen Intel chip, and Home Assistant in the app store, and this thing genuinely redefined what a NAS is for my office workflow.
