As demonstrated, buying a premade 4G router has severely limited speeds than the same sim card being in a mobile phone with a personal hotspot feature enabled. Most phones now block you from connecting wireless bridges to the hotspot signal - to make this hack harder to pull off, but we found with older google phones and some Huawei devices (no modern stuff) we could establish the connection.
