I made it a challenge with strict rules: everything I used had to be an art supply, and all brushes/tools had to come from Michaels—nothing from my makeup collection. I used a glue stick to block my brows, washable paint as a base, watercolors/pigments for color, and craft items like flowers, rhinestones, and hot glue for texture. It’s chaos, but if you commit to the theme, it can actually eat.

I used washable markers, washable watercolors, Crayola washable project paint, mica powders, glitter, rhinestones, construction paper, and even fake flowers and butterflies. I also used a hot glue gun to make metallic glue pieces and “gold tears.” And yes, I bought one product that was probably a bad idea… but we did it for the plot.

How did you cover your eyebrows without makeup products?

I used purple Elmer’s glue sticks to flatten and basically erase my brows, then tapped mica powder over them. The mica was shimmery, so my brows ended up kind of shiny instead of invisible. But honestly? It looked weirdly cool with the rest of the look.

It worked… but it was definitely streaky, and my face started getting itchy, which is not a slay. I used white washable project paint as an all-over base and tried to fix the streakiness by dusting shimmer powder on top. It got better, but I was fully scared the entire time.

I painted them by hand and freehand drew the details while looking at a picture on my phone—no stencil, no nothing. I left a little tab so I could fold it and glue it to my face. Then I extended black lines onto my face so the wings looked more connected, like they were melting into the makeup.

For lightweight stuff, I used a glue stick, and for the big butterfly wings I used Gorilla Glue Clear Grip because I did not want them falling off mid-chaos. I applied it with silicone brushes and tried to keep it far away from my hair because… obviously. It held, but it was definitely a “this is probably a bad idea” moment.
