About This Video

In this video I’m exposing the AI tool I used to build my first ever SaaS product (Bizfast): Bolt.new. The whole idea is simple—give it prompts and it generates a full code repo you can preview, export, and actually use. I show you my exact “step-by-step prompting” approach (instead of dumping everything in one prompt) because when I did that before, it created more errors and messy code. For the demo, I rebuild the Pokémon browsing app that originally helped me land my first job—this time with Next.js 14, React + TypeScript, and shadcn/ui. Then I prompt it to add a /browse route, Pokémon cards, pagination, and PokeAPI integration by generation. And bro… it literally integrates with the API straight up, which I didn’t even rely on before. The biggest takeaway: AI can build you a portfolio-level app in like 10 minutes, but you still need fundamentals. When deployment throws errors (like next build issues), if you don’t know how to code you’ll just spam “fix” and pray. Use AI for speed, but learn just enough (80/20) to troubleshoot, integrate the real stuff (auth, Stripe, emails), and ship. Also, I dropped my free 6-month frontend roadmap ebook (with notes on how I did it faster).
