I open with what still pisses me off: school taught me arithmetic and maybe accounting, but not how fiat currency works, how banks work, or why taxes and loans become your daily reality the moment you get a job. I didn’t even hear the term “fiat currency” until I was like 25–26. So the whole point of this video is awareness: if you understand the money system, you start seeing why so many global incentives look the way they do. Professor Jiang’s core argument is that Britain engineered a financial + legal + cultural system that later got inherited by America, and the entire world is still playing inside it. He walks through Spanish wealth (silver), piracy, the Glorious Revolution, and how the Bank of England shifted lending from “the king” to “the nation,” making debt enforceable across time. Then he connects it to offshore financial centers: places that protect capital regardless of origin, enabling money laundering at scale. The “wake up” takeaway for me: elites cooperate because the game rewards them—finance protects the money, schooling/English indoctrinates status, and military power enforces the rules.
