About This Video

In this video I share the real story behind building my first AI product in just one month as a self-taught developer. I started teaching myself in 2022, spent about 6 months learning React, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and the basics, then landed my first web dev job in November 2022. The whole reason I switched from construction work into software development was simple: I was always amazed that coding can create something out of nothing. The product idea came from a friend running an F&B business who was doing painful manual data entry for sales and expense receipts. I talked with him, understood the workflow, listed features, then realized I don’t have “full-time builder” luxury because I work 9–5 and only get around 9pm–12am on weekdays. So I did the only thing that works: I focused on one core feature that solves the problem—bulk upload receipts and extract the data—then used AI technologies to speed up front-end and back-end development, while I handled provisioning and deployment myself. I launched Bizfast on 23 December 2024. Biggest takeaway: building is one skill, selling is a totally different game—so build something for yourself, even if it’s not perfect, so you don’t die in regret.
