About This Video

In this video, I break down four career paths you can choose as a programmer—especially if you’re self-taught like me. I didn’t go the traditional degree route. I spent 8 years in construction as a project engineer, then I self-taught web development for 6 months because I genuinely love creating ideas from nothing. Before you obsess over what tech stack to learn, I want you to be real with yourself and answer this: do you want money, security & stability, passion, or freedom? If you want money, I suggest aiming for high-paying roles like full stack, DevOps, or cloud (and yes, AI too). You can also leverage remote work by getting paid in a higher currency, and job-hopping every 1–2 years can boost income faster than staying loyal. If you want security and stability, pick a long-term company or even a government tech role—but accept bureaucracy and the “boss is boss” reality. If you want passion, it’s actually the easiest path to execute because you’ll tolerate lower pay while you build expertise. And if you want freedom (my personal choice), you need a job to fund your runway, then build your own distribution network online—because building is one thing, selling is another. If you want financial freedom, you need to sell something, and attention + trust is how you do it.
