In this video I review the Akko MOD68 HE (Echo MOD68) and why I think it’s the best budget custom magnetic keyboard right now. It starts at $69, and the crazy part is how much you can configure: case color, connectivity (wired, wireless, or trio with Bluetooth + 2.4GHz), keycaps, switches, plate color/material—literally everything. My unit is a heavy full-metal case with a clean, minimal look, a side USB-C port, and my favorite layout: that 65%/68% sweet spot. I go over the build and what’s inside too: gasket-style silicone pads, an FR4 plate option, PCB foam, and another foam layer underneath—basically “too many things packed” in a good way, which makes the typing feel stable and premium for the price. Performance-wise it’s what you want from a modern HE board: 8K polling, 16K scan rate, and web-based software with remaps, macros, rapid trigger, and super fine actuation tuning (down to 0.005mm). My personal settings were 0.9mm actuation and 1.5mm rapid trigger. My only real regret is my keycap choice: the clear pastel gradient set looks sick, but the texture feels weird, the legends are painted, and at night the RGB can make the text hard to read. Everything else? Honestly flawless for the money.
