In this video I’m tackling a really specific (and surprisingly common) record-collector problem: how to properly sleeve a trifold record jacket while still keeping full access to the artwork, the liner notes, and the records—without having to pull the jacket out of the sleeve every single time. I’ve covered Vinyl Storage Solutions gatefold sleeves before, and they’re brilliant for gatefolds, but a trifold is that awkward third panel that standard solutions just don’t accommodate. Vinyl Storage Solutions’ answer is a dedicated trifold outer sleeve kit made up of three parts: two dual-pocket outer sleeves plus a center panel. Like their other outer sleeves, it’s cast polypropylene rather than standard polyethylene, which is why the clarity is so good—you actually get to see the artwork properly while keeping the jacket protected. I walk through the exact process: remove records/inserts, slide the center panel into place, fit the first dual-pocket sleeve over the front (flap facing down), seal it to the center panel, and repeat for the other side. Would I prefer a single-piece, non-kit trifold sleeve? Yes, of course—but I can also see why that’s harder to engineer for trifolds. As it stands, this is a neat, practical solution that protects the jacket and keeps everything accessible, which is exactly what we want as record collectors.
