Join me for a pilot episode of a potential new series heading to record stores around the country with a few pitstops in some of the nations most beloved pubs along the way. I found some interesting vinyl records that I didn't expect to find and some a classic first press that I took a punt on. I enjoyed a beer in the Ye Olde Mitre in Holborn but also The Cittie of Yorke and The Blue Posts. Classic London pubs. About This Video

In this pilot episode, I leave the vinyl cave and head down to London for a day that combines two of my great loves: record collecting and classic historic pubs with a decent pint of cask ale. I’m not doing this with my usual camera kit either—just a phone and a gimbal—so it’s a bit more “on the road” and rough around the edges. The plan was simple: get some business done, avoid too many tube journeys (because I quite frankly hate the tube), and then hit a cluster of Soho record shops with a few pub pitstops along the way. I start with a well-earned pint at Ye Olde Mitre in Holborn—an absolute gem hidden down an alleyway—and then make my way toward Soho, stopping briefly at a building tied to my old corporate life (and a reminder of why I quit). Record-wise, I dig through Reckless Records and take a punt on an original Regal Zonophone Tyrannosaurus Rex mono copy, then head into Sister Ray where my bag gets a lot heavier with a mix of new and “gambles” (including Frusciante titles I’m hoping aren’t off-centre). I also end up at Sounds of the Universe, where filming wasn’t welcomed, but I still come away with the 50th anniversary Dark Side of the Moon. The big takeaway? You never know what you’ll find—and that serendipity is half the joy.
