Fast forward to 2025, however, and there's a new kid in town — the HumminGuru NOVA. The HumminGuru NOVA promises many upgrades on the original, so is it really better than its older brother. I put it to the test, including before and after audio samples. About This Video

In this video I put the HumminGuru NOVA through its paces and compare it directly to the original HumminGuru that turned heads back in 2021. On the surface it looks familiar, but once you scratch beneath the surface there are some genuinely meaningful upgrades: a 40 kHz ultrasonic sweep frequency with an upgraded power drive, a new 10-minute heavy wash cycle, faster drying options (3 or 6 minutes), and a much better approach to cleaning 7-inch and 10-inch records thanks to the adjustable rotation wheels (goodbye, tedious adapters). I also dig into the practical stuff that actually matters when you’re cleaning a lot of records—noise, usability, and water management. The NOVA’s cleaning cycle is a bit noisier than my Degritter, but the drying cycle is significantly quieter, and the new draining mode gives you more control if you’re batch cleaning and air-drying. For testing, I ran typical used records and then threw an absolutely disgusting “attic/basement” special at it. The NOVA did extremely well, but it also proved my usual point: ultrasonic won’t remove stubborn sticky surface gunk—you still need a bit of physical scrubbing first. Bottom line: yes, the NOVA is 100% an improvement over the original in both results and usability. It’s not as luxurious as a Degritter (and the price gap is huge), but for affordable ultrasonic cleaning, this is one of the best routes—especially if you add the optional automatic water dispenser to reduce the usual water-tank faff.
