It’s a discovery draft, but I’m not fully winging it. After getting unstuck, I plotted the rest of the book scene by scene in a very loose way, so I have structure without losing flexibility. That way I’m writing more and panicking less about “what happens next?”

I’m writing the midpoint—like we are at the midpoint, and it’s wild. I’m nearing the midpoint climax, so things are happening, and the chemistry between my two characters is giving. After this, we’re basically heading into act three.

I do reading/writing sprints where I read for 5 minutes and then write for 25 minutes. I wanted to prioritize drafting more than reading that day. It’s been helping me keep momentum without turning the whole day into “I’ll just read one more chapter.”

Yes, I went to a cafe to write with Serena, and the atmosphere was genuinely one of the best I’ve had. We found an upstairs section with an incredible view, and it made me feel like I was in a city. Sometimes the vibe doesn’t just help productivity—it helps inspiration.

What is your cozy evening routine after writing?

I make hot chocolate (Costco mix), then I do my little life hack where I microwave it again for 30 seconds so the powder chunks taste more brownie-ish. I add a peppermint mocha creamer situation and marshmallows, then puzzle while listening to an audiobook. After that, I go back to writing because when I’m motivated, I like to milk it.

Do you use a romance structure guide while drafting?

Yes—at the end of the vlog I revisit my Romance the Beats beat sheet notes from Gwen Hayes’ romance structure book. It’s a super helpful resource for making sure I’m hitting the beats, but I don’t believe you have to follow structure to a tee. If it starts to feel too constricting, you can loosen your grip and still tell a great story.
