March is all about FEARLESS SEWING, and this week I went fearless with FEATHERS in a super fun collab with Kesha the Stylist (you have to watch her video too). I’m making glam, I’m making drama, and yes—I'm doing it in faux suede with feather energy. The main make is Simplicity S9820, a semi-fitted dress with that slightly flared hem and an invisible zipper in the back. I cut a size 16 and then tapered my hips down to a 14 because I like a cleaner fit through that area, and I used a one-way stretch faux suede I picked up at The Sewing Studio in Maitland, Florida. For the top, I layered in Vogue V1835—an off-the-shoulder moment that just screams “glam sewing.” I modified the sizing to fit me the way I want it: XL at the neckline, then tapered to L at the bust and M at the waist. The big takeaway here is that fearless sewing doesn’t mean perfect sewing—it means you’re willing to tweak patterns, mix patterns, and add those extra details (like feathers) that make your project feel like YOU.
