About This Video

In this video, I’m basically keeping a little video diary of my first trimester—because when we found out (at just 3 weeks!), it felt confusing, happy, surreal… and also a little scary. I share what those first few days looked like, how we started calling the baby “poppy seed” (week 4!), and how my symptoms kept changing week to week. For me it wasn’t the typical vomiting story—my biggest thing was being exhausted AF, getting hungry every 15 minutes but only being able to eat a couple bites, plus cramps, back pain, and migraines. I also talk about how doctor appointments work in the USA, because here they often don’t take you in until 8–10 weeks. We actually ended up in the emergency room once (scary, but everything was okay), and then I got to see the baby again at my appointment—literally the sweetest thing. Towards the end, I share the tips that genuinely helped me: choosing a doctor close by (especially since ours was a VBAC baby), telling a few trusted people for support, using the What to Expect app/community, staying hydrated (a big water mug helped!), eating small portions every 1.5 hours for migraines, and taking a prenatal with folic acid. If you’re in your first trimester—congratulations. I know it’s the most nervous time, but you will get through it.
