About This Video

In this video, I’m sharing the beginner books I’ve been using with my toddler from Lovevery—especially because he’s not naturally a “book lover” yet. Most days he just wants to flip pages and move on, so I wanted books that actually pull him in with interaction. I show you how we read together in real time—counting in the baby math book (“one bucket, two bucket…”) and identifying simple shapes like a circle. What’s been working for us is that these books don’t feel like “sit still and listen” books. They have peekaboo sleeves, flaps, and different textures (those furry elements) that make my kiddo want to participate. The “Uh-Oh” style book is a favorite because he loves the little peekaboo moments, and the My First Words book helps with everyday words like “mama” and “papa.” My biggest takeaway: if your toddler isn’t into reading yet, start with super interactive board books—because one day you’ll look over and they’ll actually choose a book over toys, and that’s such a win.
