I CAN’T believe Kimi Räikkönen somehow won a race while being retired!! About This Video

Good morning, race fans—this one is my 2026 Chinese GP review, and I genuinely did not expect Shanghai to drag me back into believing in these new regs. All weekend I was struggling to see the bright side, especially with the FIA confirming Bahrain and Saudi are cancelled (so yes, we’re really getting less F1 this year). Practice and sprint quali were basically a copy-paste of quali, but the sprint itself gave us the usual chaos: Lewis with an all-timer start, Kimi Antonelli doing a Kimi Antonelli (awful start, then immediately recovering like it’s barely an inconvenience), and Russell basically proving battery management is the new superpower. Then the actual race said “hold my coffee.” We had a grid falling apart with multiple DNS engine issues, Ferrari getting another banger start, and lap-one nonsense including Colapinto flying and Verstappen somehow down in the trenches. The safety car timing was brutal for some, beautiful for others, and the real highlight was that Ferrari-on-Ferrari (and Ferrari-adjacent) fighting: Lewis and Charles scrapping like it’s 2012, while Kimi nicked the lead early and built the gap. My big takeaway: the overtakes still aren’t perfect, but the corners gave us real action, real emotion, and a race that actually felt meaningful again. Kimi takes his first GP win, Russell P2, and Lewis grabs his first Ferrari podium—so I rated it 4/5 stars and yes, I’m slightly regaining faith.
