We’re so back — Vegas edition. In this 2025 Las Vegas GP review, I run through the whole weekend from the chaos-y wet qualifying (yes, another loose manhole cover, because of course) to a race that I honestly expected to be spicier based on past Vegas overtake counts. Q1 was a complete slip-n-slide, Williams had another “how is this real life” moment with Sainz qualifying P3, and Lando absolutely cooked in Q3 to take pole… before immediately learning that defending Max Verstappen is not a game you can improvise. The race itself had the usual Vegas shenanigans, a couple of VSCs, and not a ton of strategy diversity — everyone at the front was basically on mediums doing the same thing. The real magic was Andrea Kimi Antonelli: pitting on lap 2, catching a penalty, then somehow turning 48 laps on hards into a defensive masterclass while holding off Oscar Piastri and Charles Leclerc for ages. And then, plot twist of the year: Norris and Piastri get disqualified for excessive plank wear, which blows the title fight wide open again and drags Max right back into it. I wrap it up with my superlatives (Mercedes gets strategy masterclass, Ferrari gets my weekly “beyond redemption” segment), my 3/5 star rating, and why I’m temporarily applying for Orange Army citizenship because the thought of Lando winning a title is… upsetting.
